The Ribbon Arch
This is the design by George Peters based on an original concept by Etienne Veyres and Alain Chevalier
ORIGINAL SUGGESTED COLOUR SCHEME.
THE ONE THAT WAS EVENTUALY CHOSEN
Pictures of suggested designs and various steps along the way including the workshop can be seen here. These pictures show details of the reinforcing between panels and the spar pockets.
Following more research and discussion a few changes were made in construction detail including the addition of dacron reinforcing along top and bottom edges. It has also been decided to keep the decoration to minimal designs.. This is due to the concern about tension across more intricate designs.
A workshop was run on 2/3 February 2013 and good progress was made. It was then test flown at Lydiard Park on 10th March when a number of improvements were suggested. These were implemented but it was not flown again until March 2014 when the flight was much better. Two more minor modifications have been made since and we look forward to a good day on which to fly it again.
